Gary McDonald retired in 2009 as Assistant Superintendent of Yadkin County Schools. He and his wife Donna, live in East Bend. They have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren.



Gary began his career as the Associate Pastor of Weaverville Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC. He then served as Youth Director of Butner Baptist Church as he began his teaching and coaching career at South Granville High School. Gary moved to Forbush High School where he coached several different sports. He has also served as Assistant Principal at Starmount and Forbush before becoming the Principal of Forbush High School. 

Gary is a member of Lewisville Baptist Church where he currently serves as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Gary’s favorite Bible verse comes from John 14:6 where Jesus tells Thomas “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comets to the father, but by me.” The FCA has been faithful to share this message with student athletes for generations.
